And Ecchi Ookami is now… up!

Yatta! Yatta! Banzai!

I would like to welcome you to the launching of Ecchi Ookami, my first attempt at doing an anime/manga related weblog!

I’m beginning to think that this one has the makings of yet another time sink for me… but hey, I love watching anime, and reading scanlated manga, so I might as well put that measly knowledge to good use, eh? But before we get the ball rolling, lemme do the following disclaimers:

• I won’t claim to be an expert in anime and manga. There are dozens of otakus who already have that distinction, so I won’t try to convince anyone that my tastes in entertainment are better. That’s just silly.
• Expect links/pointers back to other other anime-related sites and weblogs. I won’t try to reinvent the wheel and post the same shit the someone already did. What I “will” do, however, is link back to the original articles/posts and give my own take on em.
• I’ll try not to discriminate against any anime or manga - to a point. Of course, I’ll only write about the shows/series that I actually ‘like” to watch/read. What I mean is that, for example, I won’t avoid writing about Koi Kaze just because its theme concerns incest and pedophilia, since it has a great story behind it. That doesn’t mean I’m obligated to write about every series I see. I won’t try to cover, say, Naruto because (1) there’s just too much of it to cover and (2) the anime itself is still in insubstantial filler mode. I myself have my own preferences on what I like to watch/read, but dissing a show before I’ve watched a single episode or read a single page… is something I won’t be doing.
• Unlike most of the popular anime weblogs already out there, I won’t limit myself to just the ones airing on Japanese TV or the released fansubs. From time to time, I’ll be writing about old favorites and previously ended series, as well as obscure and niche-driven shows - even hentai!
• I won’t be on a screenshot diarrhea bout like other sites. At the most I’ll be posting 3-6 screenies - unless I really like a particular show or series and deem it necessary to post twice that number.
• And lastly, I’m letting you know that I am not versed in Nippongo/Japanese, so most of what I’ll be writing about are fansubbed anime and scanlated manga. That doesn’t mean I don’t watch raws, but I like to write about things when I actually know what’s going on, ne?

Anyway, I hope to write a lot of good things about the shows I like to watch. I really doubt more than a handful of people will come read this, but one of the great things about being narcissistic is that I like to read what I write (hahaha).
